Happy Valentine's Day

Love for ArtsImage via WikipediaThere are so many different ways to share love. So often we think of love as romantic, fluffy, ooey-gooey, courtship. But love is also about a deep commitment to the well-being of another. This is something that we have been working on in our family over the past few months.

Today, I want to share another expression of love with you. This year, Greg & I have made a commitment to financial accountability. This is huge for us. We have definitely been in the camp of "I'd really just rather not deal with it" and left things as they were. But, with God's grace, we have turned a corner. It has been a challenge, but we have seen the example set by two different families who are very dear to us. They have shown us that it is not impossible to be debt-free and responsible even when circumstances are less than ideal.

Satochan.Image via WikipediaWe thought financial freedom was tough, but the next step was even more difficult: complete accountability. Yep, that means knowing where each and every document actually is, where all the statements are, having wills, health care directives, guardianships, ACTUAL, SPECIFIC DATA!!! Yes, that is a bit intimidating for me. But we are determined to have everything set in order because we love our family enough to not want to make things difficult for them. With that being said, we committed to setting aside 30 days to make sure that all of our ducks are in a row; and yes, that includes the AFLAC duck for emergencies. :-)

Now we want to share that challenge with you. Over the next month, will you make a commitment to show your love to your family members? We know that we are not experts in this field, and do not have any particular interest in being experts, so we found a resource that worked for our friends and is working for us. Below is more information to help you decide if this is something that will help your family as well.

I am a member of Dave Ramsey's MyTotalMoneyMakeover.com. MyTMMO is an online community where you can interact with others who are working on their total money makeover everyday!
Right now, I am working on putting together our family's "I love you drawer", in case something were to happen to me. That way my family wouldn't have to worry about any kind of money issues. I just wanted to challenge you to do the same thing.
See if you can get it done in 30 days or less. If you use the link below you can sign up for a free 30-day membership!

*Wendy's note: Okay, that is totally the script from their website to share with friends. It's obviously not my language, but it is my heart. It's also 2 AM, and I need to sleep instead of writing. So.... if I remember to try to update this later, the wording may be different; but then again, I may just decide to show myself a little grace knowing that my readers love me for who I am and not because I can do everything perfectly.
